In 1979, a young Indian man named Jadav Molai Payeng began a journey that would change the landscape of his community forever.

It all started with a tragedy.

A severe flood-ravaged his hometown, followed by a devastating drought that killed millions of snakes.

These severe tragedies left a deep impression on Jadav.

With nothing to lose, Jadav made a decision — to plant one tree sapling each day of his life.

It was a modest start, but he was committed.

Day after day, under the scorching sun and through the monsoon rains, Jadav planted a sapling.

As the years passed, his dedication bore fruit.

The saplings grew into trees, and slowly, a transformation began.

Over three decades, Jadav turned 550 acres of desolate land into a lush, green sanctuary teeming with life.

The forest, named Molai after its creator, is now home to a diverse array of wildlife…
